Star Analysis P!NK

In the star analysis we have chosen to look at the artist P!NK. The reason why we have chosen to look at this particular artist is because our chosen track for our music video's artist is P!nk. We have decided that by doing a star analysis on P!nk we will gather some background information on her as well as understand the themes and convention of her Original Music Videos. As a group we have looked at 6 music videos that had P!nk in them. Below is a list of the 6 music videos we analysed : -
  1. Lady Marmalade
  2. Just Like A Pill
  3. Raise Your Glass
  4. Fuckin Perfect !
  5. Family Portrait
  6. Stupid Girls !

Above is the music video Lady Marmalade and even though this is not P!nk's solo song she has a major part in this music video. This music video was produced in the year 2002 when P!nk's solo career had just taken off and inside this music video we can see that she has chosen to stuck to her original look of rock and roll hair. The look of rock and roll hair is more appealing to a wider teen audience from the ages of 15 to the age of 25 as it abnormally looks better on her than any one of her cast members in the music video.
P!nk’s make up in this music video is very subtle on her face but heavy on her eyes as this gives oomph to her appearance but also still sticks to her style rock and roll look. This music video is a hit with P!nk’s target audience as there is currently 30, 313,715 hits and is still rising.

The music video above is called Just Like A Pill and was produced in the year 2001 when P!nk’s solo career had just started. The music video began with acoustic music of a piano. In the music video there is a band playing the song and P!nk is singing along to her song. The theme of this music video is also rock as P!nk has stuck to the theme of pink and it is vividly visible in a strand on her hair. The colour scheme in this music video is black and as usual the colour pink stands out as that is her branding image.

P!nk’s make up again is subtle on they face and heavy on the eyes emphasising the emotion and meaning of the song portrayed through her eyes. This music video is a clear hit with P!nk’s target audience as the music video currently has 137,563 hits and is currently rising.

Above is the music video Raise Your Glass. Again in this music video there are some areas of the music video where there is acoustic music of a guitar and the theme of this video is P!nk again establishing her brand. The music video has elements of rock as this is shown with P!nk’s hair. This music video tells a linear story which has elements of perfect synchronised dance movements.

Again P!nk has used subtle make up on the face and heavy make up around the eyes and the mouth. Again this music video is a hit with P!nk’s target audience as it currently has 36,067,398 hits and is currently still rising.

The music video above is called Fuckin Perfect ! In this music video the story is linear and fragmented as the story is told by flashbacks and reoccurring images in the person life in this case it is a bear. In the flashbacks they are in colour contracsting to ther reality colours as they are dark and vivid. P!nk again has stuck to the reoccurring colour pink as this is shown in the images of the music video and the type of clothing that is worn throughout this music video.
P!nk again has used subtle make up around the face and has gone heavy on the eyes and the mouth. The music video currently has 32,557,077 hits with its target audience and it is still currently rising.

Above is the music video called Family Portrait. This music video is portrayed by a linear/fragmented story line. The colour pink has remained throughout this music video as this is shown in the clothing and the make up. The theme rock is also portrayed in this music video as this is shown by again the type of clothing and the hair styles. The music video shows a rift between two different worlds one of a nuclear family and one of a single parent family.
The make up in this music video is mainly portrayed around the eyes and the mouth. The music video currently has 10,223,759 hits and is still currently rising.

The music video above is called Stupid Girls! The story behind this music video is told behind a linear storyline. The colour scheme of this music video again is the colour pink and this is shown by pink glasses and pink items of clothing that happens to reoccur many times throughout this music video

Make up in this music video is like many of P!nk’s other music video where there is hardly any make up around the face but heavy makeup around the eyes. The music video currently has 16,313,480 hits with it’s target audience and is still rising.

From looking at the above music video’s in detail we have concluded that in our music video we would like some sort of acoustic instalment playing to fit in with our music videos P!nk has made. Our make up again is going to be heavy on the eyes and subtle around the face. The colour pink is going to be a reoccurring colour and our lyrics will match the visuals. We have conclude that our target audience will be from the ages of 15 to 24.
