Part 4 In Editing Music Video

Jemma and I decided to start our editing again and start afresh. We mainly wanted to do this as we weren't too keen on the effects that had been applied to the shots and also the timing of each scene. We didn't feel confident in changing what had already been done so we decided to start again on a new sequence.

We initially put the guitar clip at the beginning of the song, for the entire instrumental intro however we read back over our feedback that had been given by our peers and noticed one comment which said that they felt having the same clip for the entire introduction was too long. We then mixed it up a little by using two different clips of the guitar. We felt this looked much better however continued tweaking to try and improve it further. In the end we settled with having one guitar clip, then a shot of Evalene, then another clip of the guitar. This broke the introduction up and we felt it looked a lot better than the original version we had edited.

We also played around with the scene of Evalene's eye. We experimented with the shot of both her eyes, just one of her eyes, and then the clip of her blinking. We altered the blinking clip and made it more effective by decreasing the pace. This worked well with the tempo of the song, the lyrics as well as the genre.

As we continued to edit our music video throughout the hour, we learnt how we could create effective scenes by doing simple things such as slowing down the pace of a clip or by seperating the scenes in order to keep the audience intrigued.
